Exploring the effects of measures of performance and calibration strategies on calibrating traffic microsimulation model: A quantitative analysis approach

In the subject of traffic microsimulation model (TMM) calibration, measure performance (MoP) plays an essential role. However, due to diversity MoP types, choosing a or combination (usually used for multi-criteria calibration strategy) that can represent characteristics field operation has become key problem. This paper proposed quantitative analysis approach (suitable, in general, any TMM) with three aspects. Through this approach, more detailed and representative MoPs be studied. At same time, effect different strategies various combinations on TMM also compared comprehensively. The methodology is tested specific case study (a signalized link cyclic interrupted flow) by VISSIM, where (single-criteria, priori-based multi-criteria, posteriori-based are implemented comprehensive inspection comparison. results show clearly dependent strategies. Moreover, strategy stable than other two better TMM. findings provide new insights into effects calibration.
